Habitat for Humanity Application
Posted Date: 10/14/26 (09:51 AM)
Dear Grape Picker Families,
Please see the important message below from Habitat for Humanity's Executive Director Dr. Roche Vermaak as well as a note from Jen Smith. This is a great opportunity for our North East families. You can review requirements and apply to Habitat by accessing the link below. For questions, contact Habitat for Humanity at the number listed below:
This is Jen Smith with an important message for local families. My husband Doug has been a volunteer with Habitat for a decade, working with others to help build homes for worthy families in Erie. He's seen firsthand the benefits of homeownership and partnership with Habitat. This year they are building two homes that are handicapped accessible - which is certainly close to our hearts. That's why we are so excited that Habitat has acquired THREE lots in North East for homes to be built in 2027 and 2028 (19 N. Smedley, Cedar Dr and Willow Dr.). These homes will benefit PEOPLE OF NORTH EAST. Now we just need to FIND THOSE PEOPLE.
That's where you can help...Do you know someone who could use a hand up? Has children under 18 living at home with them? Would like to learn more about the process of being selected for a Habitat for Humanity home?
Please to RSVP to application@habitaterie.org to attend an information session from 10 am to noon Oct. 31 at McCord Library.
Habitat will follow up with a screening question to assure they are eligible to apply.
Guidelines:
-You must be a North East resident.
-Have children under 18 years of age in your home.
-Meet the income guidelines.
-Complete 300 sweat equity hours. (Some hours can be completed by friends/family.)
-Meet monthly with a family partner and budget coach.
