INSTRUCTION FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS

The North East School District partners with the Tri-County Intermediate Unit #5 to provide supportive services in the area of English Language Development.

To support the language development of students identified as English Learners (EL), the district will implement a comprehensive and effective Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) that addresses the specific needs of EL students. The primary goals of the LIEP are to promote measurable progress in English language proficiency and academic achievement, enabling EL students to meet the district’s established academic standards and to succeed academically.

EL students will be systematically identified, assessed, and provided with instruction tailored to their individual needs in accordance with the LIEP. Additionally, all EL students will be provided with equitable opportunities to reach their full potential in both educational and extracurricular activities, in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
