Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.)

This morning, North East Middle School students and staff participated in our first-ever Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) event!

This inaugural D.E.A.R. experience was held in honor of the late, great Dolly Parton and her incredible contributions to childhood literacy through the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library initiative.

For 30 minutes, everyone throughout the building paused what they were doing and simply took time to read a book of their choice. It was a wonderful reminder of the joy that can come from getting lost in a good book—and the importance of making time for reading in our busy lives.

As you can see from these awesome photos, courtesy of Mr. Doug Bailey, our first D.E.A.R. event was a tremendous success! We are already looking forward to making this a staple at NEMS.
