Hello Picker Families!

We have had a great start to the 2022-2023 school year. This is a reminder that the school district is closed on Monday, September 5, 2022, for Labor Day.

Please join us tonight, Thursday, September 1, 2022, for our opening football game against the Girard Yellow Jackets. The North East Marching Band will perform at half-time. The game begins at 7:00 p.m. and the gates open at 6:00 p.m. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised. It is expected that all students and fans are respectful representatives of the North East School District.

Please show your Picker Pride and support our children at all of our events. Please go to the district website to view events that are happening around our campus.

Welcome back Grape Pickers and Senior Class of 2023!

This is a reminder that school begins on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. A special thank you to all of the families that attended our open house/meet the teacher events.

The late bell for middle school is 7:42 a.m. and at 7:49 a.m. for the high school; students will be permitted in the middle/high school buildings after 7:15 a.m.

Davis and Intermediate Elementary Center families, please follow the information you received from your building administration. The Elementary Center opens after 8:15 a.m.

Please be patient and drive safely on our campus as we welcome back our students. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school or the district office.

We look forward to seeing our children and to an awesome 2022-2023 school year!

Dear North East Families,
Welcome back! Please listen carefully for several reminders. Meet the teacher/open house will be held on Wednesday, August 24th for the Elementary Center and Thursday, August 25th for the middle and high school.  Prior to the high school meet the teacher/open house, the girls volleyball will have a scrimmage beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym.

Bus schedules can be found in Sapphire under the student information section. If you have questions regarding bussing, please contact the transportation department at rfedei@nesd1.org. Staff will be available during meet the teacher/open house to help with bussing and to create a Sapphire account.

This is a reminder that the speed limit on campus is 15 mph at all times for the safety of our students and families. Additionally, the district is a tobacco/vape-free, drug-free zone; no items are permitted on campus, including inside of vehicles.

All buildings and offices will be closed from 7:00 a.m. through noon on Wednesday, August 24th and from 7:00 a.m. through noon on Thursday, August 25th for staff professional learning.

Orientation for freshman/Sophomores and new students to NE high school will be held on Thursday, August 25th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Dear North East Families,

Welcome back!  It is hard to believe that our children will be back in school in just a couple of weeks.

The Board of Directors, administration, teachers, and staff work very hard to ensure the safety and success of all students.  We are your partners in education and support our families and the community in carrying out our mission, “to challenge, empower, and engage all students to develop and achieve personal and career aspirations, to pursue lifelong learning, and to be responsible and accountable citizens in a dynamic world.”

This year we will continue to work on school safety, mental health initiatives, curriculum mapping, phase II of our district-wide social and emotional learning program, comprehensive planning, and facilities feasibility studies.

We have had a lot of activity on our campus throughout the summer and I would like to take a moment to thank our staff that has been working very hard over the summer to prepare our buildings for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Please see the reverse side for Open House/Meet the Teacher dates and times, bus schedule information, and instructions for applying for free and reduced meals.  We have also included a few important dates below:

  • Nuts & Bolts for 6th Grade and New Students at NE Middle School – Monday, August 15, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • K-8 Backpack Program, Davis Elementary LGI – Monday, August 15, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
  • Chromebook Distribution for Grades 3-12 at NE High School cafeteria – Tuesday, August 16, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Please bring the enclosed Student and Parent Agreement with you to the Chromebook distribution
  • Kindergarten Bus Orientation – Friday, August 19, 9:00 a.m.
  • Freshman/Sophomore & New Student Orientation at NE High School – Thursday, August 25, 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • First Day of School for Students – Tuesday, August 30

School Picture Dates:

  • North East High School – Monday, September 12
  • North East Middle School – Monday, September 12
  • North East Elementary Center – Friday, September 16
