This year the middle school has begun using a new assessment program called Measures of Academic Progress or MAP. Students take the test three times a year in the areas of mathematics, reading, and language usage. The assessment is unique because it is a computerized test which adapts to the student’s ability, accurately measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. In addition, MAP will measure academic growth over time, independent of grade level or age. Most importantly, the results our teachers receive have practical application to teaching and learning. MAP test results provide the middle school faculty with timely access to information they can use for instructional planning and school improvement. Following each testing period, parents will receive a report showing the child’s growth. For more information about this testing program, go to www.nwea.org
