The diversity of the middle school student is well documented. Students come in all shapes and sizes. The middle school student will experience rapid growth and change intellectually, emotionally, socially as well as physically. The student population at any one grade level may be of the same age but vastly different from one another. The North East Middle School provides a positive environment for students to transition from childhood to adolescence.

The North East Middle School 's primary focus is academic achievement and growth while being careful to attend to the needs of the adolescent learner. Teams of teachers provide a sense of family within the larger school community. In addition to the traditional core curriculum of math, language arts, history, and science, students are exposed to foreign language, art, family and consumer science, technology education, music and physical education. Extracurricular activities are provided in clubs, intramurals, student government, and community service groups.
