The Student Council serves the student body by giving them a voice in the events and functions that occur throughout the school year. Under the leadership of teacher/advisor Ms. Deborah Rao, the council consists of 39 members representing all high school grade levels. These representatives are elected by their fellow classmates each year.

The Council supports local community charities, like the North East Food Pantry and the Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as sponsors a child in Guatemala through the organization Children International. They also organize many fun activities for the students throughout the year. Among these have included the Homecoming Parade, a Winter Festival, and other holiday celebrations. Another responsibility of Student Council is to manage the basketball concession stands.

The Student Council seeks to involve the student body in all aspects of their education and to create a student friendly environment in North East High School. They are always trying to develop new and fun activities for the students and they work hard to recycle the successful ones from the past. The Student Council is constantly looking at ways to give back to the school and the community.
